Global Invest 1.4 million Into Facility And Plans Of Reshoring

Yorkshire based manufacturer, Global Precision, has recently moved to a 19,000 sq ft facility investing 1.4 million and plans to reshore business from China.

Global Precision is an international resource framework, providing a range of benefits and services to efficiently complete manufacturing projects both on time and within budget. From front-end engineering to contract manufacture of complete end-products, they have the resources to ensure the successful completion of customers projects. Global’s team of professionals, whether local or on the ground offshore, allow customers to be in control of their project without expensive trips to manufacturing plants.

The new facility, based in Haworth is almost three times the size of Global’s original facility based in Cross Roads and will allow the firm to grow further and invest in more machinery to conduct tooling trials and R&D.

With state of the art security and facial recognition technology, Global can ensure the confidentiality of its customers. This ultra-modern facility also includes digital information points which showcase live updates on the company’s performances and sales figures. On top of that, it will also feature a new showroom demonstrating their various moulding work, medical devices, PPE projects, flood defence barrier and run-flat vehicle systems as well as a diverse range of automotive components.

Darren Webb, Sales Manager at Global Precision told the Made in Group:

“Here at Global we take pride in the way we present ourselves, we have invested heavily in design and branding which is something we maintained in our previous facilities as well.

We have put a lot of focus on show space in the facility, concentrating on making it feel more like an exhibition rather than a showroom.”

With more space at the firm's new manufacturing plant, they have also invested in new machinery including high efficiency electric hybrid injection mouldings machines. In comparison to their old facility, the new one includes a floor dedicated to assembly, moulding and a large showroom.

Offering customers a cost-effective and efficient tooling solution, the majority of the firm's manufacturing is carried out in China. However, to reduce their carbon footprint and help upscale their production, Global hopes to reshore some of their business from China via their assemblies. This means the company will be saving on costs as well, as they won't need to use external suppliers. Darren concluded:

“Our business plan has been to increase manufacture at our UK site mainly through new business. However, by reshoring, we can become more sustainable, eliminate customer concerns and speed up delivery times on products for customers in the UK and Europe.”

When you hear the word “Agility” what do you think of?

For us it really does have a few meanings; one of which is how we describe one of our team who loves nothing more than a nimble hike up a mountain!

However, let’s look at this in terms of manufacturing and how it applies, what it means to us as providers and ultimately how it impacts our clients.

Within our team we have a wealth of experience and knowledge, many of our team began their careers as toolmakers using traditional methods and then moved along into other areas like sales, workflow and materials/logistics. What really stands out within our business is the amazing desire of the people we have in the team who are dedicated to improvements, quality, being the best, they can be and the difference we make to clients.

Here is our look at agile manufacturing – enjoy.

Agile manufacturing is a modern-day practice adopted by companies looking to keep in step with their customers and a competitive market. Regardless of the industry, it requires manufacturers who are reactive to consumer change and demand, who are swift with their solutions, and confident with their processes to deliver on products that consumers expected yesterday.

Society is swamped with fleeting trends and, along with busy lives, expectations for choice, and demand for high quality, speedily available products; the market has been driven into a competitive frenzy, requiring manufacturers to keep aware, keep driven, and keep up!

Agile manufacturers can harness this fast-paced change for a competitive advantage, without compromising the quality of their consumer end products. Whether it is a new product that has become an overnight sensation or a change somewhere along the supply chain, they are ready with a solution.

Establishing an agile manufacturing system requires research and evaluation of the available technology and handling systems. An understanding of the relative integrated technology systems allows manufacturers to choose those best suited to the company. Digital transformation technologies have revolutionised manufacturing by allowing automation within the supply chain, and the subsequent smaller, ‘on demand’ acquisition of supplies that is driven by consumer demand, rather than market forecasts and mass production practices. But their success relies on interconnected departments with robust lines of communication, from customer to engineer, to delivery. Customers must also be kept intricately connected at each stage of the process to ensure a collaborative and customer focussed service. Incorporating product variation into the initial design process with customers, will also help avoid unnecessary redesign and keep the process efficient.

A skilled workforce, equipped with up-to-date knowledge and data is intrinsic to the functioning of an agile manufacturer. They must have the skills and confidence to operate innovative technology, understand the strategies used in agile manufacturing and importantly, how to implement them, if they are to respond to real time changes.

The combination of skilled workforces connected with smart technology solutions ensures a competitive advantage for agile companies who can react quickly to short windows of opportunity. Global Precision is Exhibiting at Innovative Hybrid Exhibition: Backing Britain 3.0

Global Precision will be exhibiting at Backing Britain 3.0 in this month. The brand new innovative exhibition format is set to welcome thousands of visitors to the 3D virtual environment, which will continue to run for the entire year after the event takes place after 26th-28th April. It will also see three in-person events connecting 300+ manufacturers with talks from industry leaders and celebrity guests.

The aim of the Backing Britain Expo from The Made in Group is to connect hundreds of manufacturers across the region in an immersive, interactive, and environmentally friendly way. Over the last 18 months or so, businesses have had to propel themselves into the digital, whether it be working from home or diversifying their business processes. "The Future Is Bright"

“The future for Global Precision is looking bright”, says Sales Manager Darren Webb.

Global Precision, with Headquarters in West Yorkshire and manufacturing split between the UK and China, have always had a flexible approach with customers and their manufacturing solutions. This flexibility has promoted an evolution of the business structure which has become ever more essential in the current economic climate.

A recent trend UK manufacturing wishing to have production onshore has been accelerated in recent times, stemming from uncertainties around Brexit and the implications that a global pandemic has had on offshore supply, logistics, associated costs and much more.

In response to this, Global Precision have made ongoing re-investment into their UK facilities through the purchase of a larger state of the art factory, additional equipment and recruitment of key personnel.

The impact of the pandemic created a decline in some sectors of the company, primarily automotive and transport, but also created a significant upturn in other areas, such as PPE and Healthcare.

With focus on both energy efficiency and processing efficiency, Global Precision’s new factory - nestled by the river in historic Haworth - is geared up to accommodate low volume development projects.

Global Precision’s Sales Manager Darren Webb, says that “Commercially, this higher volume production is equal to, if not more competitive than, their China counterparts.

So where Far East manufacture was always seen as the more cost-effective solution, this now isn’t always the case. Once costs and time for shipping are factored in, as well as tariffs for import (etc.) a UK manufacturing solution is becoming more and more viable!”

However, the benefit of China’s diversity of processes is not to be underestimated and many of Global Precision’s more recent projects have combined tooling and specialist processes in China, along with UK moulding and assembly, to provide the most appropriate and efficient solution to their clients.

As with most other businesses throughout the country, Global has had to adapt to recent changes and restrictions. However, the West Yorkshire based company don’t intend to let this hold them back, with a current recruitment drive in full swing to grow the production team, in line with their forecasted increase in manufacturing, through 2021 and beyond.

We have a winner!

When we heard there was a Manufacturing Expo happening at the NEC, Birmingham, we didn’t need much time to think about it, we got ourselves booked and “huzzled” over to be part of the goings on!

You may have seen our previous blog where we talked about the expo and how amazing it was to be involved with such a prestigious event showcasing talent, best practice, information, and opportunities within the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

So, how could we resist the opportunity to give our stand visitors a chance to put their problem-solving skills to the test. We introduced the “huzzle” challenge, a selection of items where parts were connected – those brave enough to step up and have a go needed to work out how to unlock the parts and then put them back together.

Well, as manufacturers of parts, it just seemed logical, although with some missing instructions, we may have to give added brownie points to our team who had to figure it out beforehand!

Anyway, back to the subject of the competition and what made it even more exciting was the lucky winner who would be drawn out after the event would win a Made in Yorkshire hamper – tasty! A fabulous selection of delicious treat all sourced locally so just carrying on our love of all things Yorkshire. This was supplied courtesy of Yorkshires Finest Hampers who we highly recommend.

Now we have been back at the office and put all the names in a hat, we can announce our winner. Drum roll please………..we can officially share that the winner of the “Huzzle Challenge 2022” is Radhika Srinivasan, Director of EcoTextura. EcoTextura are EcoTextura offer an environmentally conscious and inclusive solution to medical PPE and are based in Milton Keynes.

So, firstly massive congratulations to Radhika for being totally global-tastic at the “huzzle” challenge and also for running a fantastic business doing great things in the world of PPE.

As you may know, we love taking Yorkshire all over the place through the products we produce for our clients, but on this occasion we were over the moon to be able to send yummy Yorkshire treats to our deserving winner. We caught up with Radhika to just see which of the treats were her favourites and what she thought of the hamper, she said “I’m really loving the roasted fava bean snack and the honey & mustard cheese wafers! I’m snacking on something different each day. It’s perfect!”

A decade of Global Precision!

Wow, we are super excited to announce we have been operating for 10 years in Haworth. If it had been a marriage it would be “tin” – we can certainly say that it has been very much about relationships!

Our founder, Andy started the business as an injection moulding, tooling and contract manufacturing company operating in China in 2009 before establishing the first office in the UK in 2012.

Since then we have gone from strength-to-strength and have put millions of pounds into the Yorkshire economy through our clients and workforce.

We are so proud of our Yorkshire roots and enjoy being a part of this community. Knowing we are making an impact on the global stage from our base here in the beautiful area of Haworth is fantastic. To now be in a state of the art manufacturing facility, employing 36 people and with an impressive client base including Jaguar Land Rover, the NHS and more, is testament to an amazing 10 years.

Our ethos has gained us respect in the industry which we value very much. We have worked hard to ensure our culture and service delivery as an innovative and highly responsive manufacturing partner, is at the fore-front of our business.

Andy began his career in engineering as an apprentice development toolmaker before moving to Rolls-Royce. He then moved into business development for himself and for companies involved in rapid and production tooling.

Identifying that many UK businesses struggled to overcome the challenges of Far East manufacture, but would benefit from cost effective, efficient production, Andv believed that there was an opportunity to bridge the gap.

Having honed his knowledge and skills Andrew decided to go for it and set up Global Precision as an agency-style business to find the perfect manufacturing solutions for projects of all types. We have an incredibly talented team all with loads of experience in tooling, manufacturing and associated processes.

Andy said, “As a manufacturing partner to a range of business our products are very varied. If clients have a product vision we can help – whether it is parts for coffee machines, plastic lace ties, car bumpers or masks for the NHS”.

Global Precision Invest in £750,000 Worth of Manufacturing Machines

Global Precision continue to ramp up their company expansion - after already having invested £1.7m with a move into a new factory this year - by securing funds to buy £750,000 worth of additional machinery.

Global Precision Ltd provide manufacturing solutions across a broad range of market sectors, with their core business being in injection moulding plastics and assembly.

This West Yorkshire based firm have been manufacturing large quantities of PPE for multiple years, however, in the current climate their demands have increased significantly due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Therefore, to cope with this new demand above their steadily growing production projects, the company aim to increase their capacity by investing in 6 new moulding machines, totalling £750,000 worth of investment. These machines will be ranging sizes from 50 to 220 tonnes and will all be Engel machines to support dedicated production lines.

Global Precision manufacture everything from standard Covid type headbands to industrial respirators - with extensive experience providing a range of both of these products in particular. Though the diversity of their products range from prosthetics to domestic flood barriers and hair brushes to large automotive mouldings, to name but a few.

Alongside this anticipated machine investment, Global Precision are also investing in setting up additional assembly lines. These assembly lines will be manually operated, meaning that there will be a need for additional recruitment to man them as well.

Ultimately then, this investment by Global Precision is not only great news in terms of a Yorkshire company increasing their capacity, but it also has the potential to offer new job opportunities to the local community.

If there is one thing that runs through our business like a train (as well as the impressive railway right next door to us here in Haworth!) its quality!

So, how incredible is this – we are super excited to share that we have appointed a Quality Engineer to further demonstrate our continued commitment to standards in all aspects of what we do.

Welcome to the team Zach.

Zach has worked previously for a global company where he operated within a range of departments, including parts and programming. Over the past few years, Zach worked his way up through the ranks to then gain experience of supervising a team of nine, each covering different roles.

What really makes a difference to us as well, is that Zach brings with him knowledge of sectors that we also operate in such as the automotive industry. We know that Zach has a fantastic appetite for learning and development which is so on point with where we are as a business. Our ongoing vision is to support exciting projects with forward thinking businesses who have product ambitions.

It is so important to us that within our team we are open and keep having conversations with clients as we aim to be that manufacturing partner making a difference at all points of the product journey.

Zach is such a positive addition to the team – he is already making a significant impact and he makes a brilliant brew…Yorkshire of course! There is already lots of fun conversations around his football prowess – needless to say, he is already keeping our team on their toes!

Anyway, back to business – we thought we would ask Zach to tell us in his own words about how he feels about the job so far.

“I think from my experience so far, I enjoy knowing we have set goals in place, and having the freedom to decide how we get there, I also enjoy working with projects, as it means there is always new products and new challenges to overcome. No two days are the same currently, I suppose the majority or the time I am writing PPAP documentation for customers to sign off, I suppose it helps having a vast knowledge of not only production manufacturing but also assembly manufacturing, to try and make all documentation legible no matter if you’re senior quality personnel or shop floor worker, the same being for any instructions, I pride myself in the fact that if you speak English or Chinese you’d still be able to understand my work”

A global tour of 2022: Tigers, Eyes, Scooters, Chilis and Birmingham – what a year!

As we cast our eyes back over what has been a very eventful year, our minds turn to the Chinese calendar and the move from 22 to 23 sees us leave the year of the tiger and begin the year of the rabbit.

Our team love any excuse for a bit of a song and we have a thing about eyes, so “The Eye of The Tiger” seems quite fitting for this feature. The rabbit may signify a bit of love for our local area as we are so lucky to be in the most amazing part of Yorkshire. Sheep (that is 2027 by the way!) and rabbits are a plenty however, tigers are bit more rare unless you take to South Yorkshire and visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park!

Back at Global HQ 2022 started with time spent focusing on what really mattered to us as manufacturers. They say that everyday is a school day and we have an appetite for continued learning, even about our own business. With that in mind, we took time at the start of the year to look again at our core values and just how much we value the relationship we have with our clients. We felt it was important to focus this year on mapping that out in even more detail and exploring the journey we have with clients and how they feel.

As February rolled around we began talking more about the range of products we have been involved in and we featured the Hydracup as one example of revolutionary manufacturing. A key part of 2022 for us was highlighting the incredible entrepreneurs and OEM’s that engage with our services. This also led us nicely into the onset of Spring and what better way to capture that by amazing photos of our local area taken by our team.

We shared news of our area, events that were happening and launched “in the eyes of our team.” Being visual is so important and enables us to showcase our location, heritage, team as well as the incredible range of products we are involved in. Another key aspect to our content for 2022 was focusing on being visionary. If we are to deliver on our value of “experience,” that being not only our own years of hard graft but also the experience of our clients then it was important to capture “vision” in the context of us being able to understand our clients end goals. We talked about agility and supply chain. When it comes to delivering on promises we know that timing is everything and so many things can happen when multiple companies are involved in one product.

Each member of our team is dedicated to a quick response to clients and having that agility within our business means we can respond and react. Well, here is a bit of a side note but how fascinating that if we are talking agility and tigers, did you know there is a crystal called “Tigers Eye” and it signifies motivation and pushing you to move past any boundaries you set for yourself. We certainly think that offers a really positive influence on life!

Back to all things manufacturing and our reflection on the last 12 months – location is important to us, and we joined in with the fantastic news that Bradford was awarded City of Culture. More reasons to enjoy all things West Yorkshire! More of our content talked about transparency, collaboration and partnerships. To help describe more about our values and vision we introduced “iwords” This formed part of the tone we were keen to take as our focus to highlight the character of our business and team.

Events kicked off in style in April when we were back on the road and involved with Backing Britain, a series of events organised by the Made in Group. We attended Derby and Leeds and really enjoyed having great conversations with manufacturers, entrepreneurs and hearing pioneering stories for a range of businesses celebrating their achievements/inventions.

Around this time, we also loved sharing news of the events happening on the railway right next to our factory. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) is a 'unique 5-mile branch line railway set in the heart of West Yorkshire and running heritage steam and diesel trains through stunning Brontë Country. We get to look out and see all the action happening right before our eyes!

Conversations began to appear more in our content and mainly because great manufacturing happens following detailed conversations with clients. We also shared some fab videos of our team where they talked about their experiences, and we got to hear a few more rather interesting and less known facts about their interests outside of work. Andy our MD also produced a personal insight into how he started the company and why family mattered so much.

June saw us land in Birmingham for the Manufacturing and Engineering Expo – this was an outstanding event with 1000’s of visitors and exhibitors. We ran a competition on our stand and invited people to do the “huzzle” – no, not a dance move although we were tempted to give that a try – this was an engineering puzzle, and one lucky winner would win a luxury Yorkshire Hamper of goodies!

The summer was great for us with new people joining the team, we celebrated 10 years of being in business and focused on Amy Johnson as our feature in Women in Engineering Day. We enjoyed getting really involved with Made In Yorkshire and shared loads of fab stuff to our microsite with them. We are super proud of our location and the fact that products made in Yorkshire are seen around the world and impacting/benefitting the lives of others. We were over the moon to be recognised by Made In Yorkshire for all our contributions to their site and involvement with their events.

The year continued with more focus on key products we have been involved in and we highlighted more members of the team and their thoughts on working for us here at GP! Healthcare continues to be a massive part of the work we get involved with alongside automotive, so we wanted to share more on the projects we have worked on.

Then as we left the summer and headed for the chillier part of the year, we introduced two more creative ideas “global social eye” and “global reasons” The social eye is a top-secret agent who is everywhere, and no one knows his or hers true identity! We enjoyed sharing features by the social eye who was hiding away keeping an eye on people and places. Global reasons was a chance for us to just start giving one reason at a time (there are hundreds by the way) why we simply love manufacturing in Yorkshire.

All our communications were centered around such important things to us, people, places, projects, total precision and performance. Its so good to look back and forward – looking back we talked about the best inventions of all time and in terms of looking ahead, we were delighted to attend an event at Huddersfield University. A fantastic centre of learning and producing the next generation of engineers, designers, manufacturers and innovators.

November came around and we sent one of our team to Dusseldorf where he attended Medica – a leading international trade fair for the medical sector. This was just so amazing that you would need to leap over to our other blog to read all about it – this is where you will find the scooter!

More news was shared about upcoming exciting projects with a large majority in the healthcare sector so on that one “mums the word”!

With updates about heartwarming festive events happening in and around Haworth it just reinforces what a stunning place we operate from surrounded by wonderful people, heritage and countryside. It’s a real pleasure to be here and look back on such a great 12 months.

The future looks exciting, and we can’t wait to share more with you in 2023 so keep those eyes peeled!

Making it starts with family

There are so many quotes that talk about the importance of family and certainly the past few years have reinforced how valuable time spent together is.

Our lives are busy ones, and we are in a world of being able to access almost anything at the touch of a button. This is fantastic in so many ways and at Global we are very much about progress and innovation; but we also understand the value of being able to step back and appreciate the people around us, whether that is those involved directly in the day-to-day operations of our business or those who support in other ways.

In this blog, Andy Sale, our MD talks about the importance of family, the challenges faced when setting up a global business, and the unconditional support and compromises needed to keep everything in place.

Hi, I am Andy, the MD of Global Precision and when I take a step back and look at all we have achieved in the business, I am immensely proud. When I started out, I just wanted to offer a solution to ambitious people who had a product vision. I had expertise in a range of disciplines, and I knew I could make a difference. Back then, if I am honest, I was not sure where we would take the business as it very much depended on how clients responded to us and how we could develop relationships. One thing I knew I did have; was tenacity and the drive to respond to challenges. It was not long in our journey when I realised, we had a great ethos and scope for scaling.

If I were really going to go for it then there was something essential that I needed first, something that money could not buy, and something that would be the game changer! That was family backing and support.

Starting your own business is not for the feint hearted. Especially when that business is on a global course. I am a devoted husband and father and to take the business to the level that there was clearly an opportunity for, needed incredible support from my family.

People talk a lot nowadays about their “Why” - for me, I knew that a big part of my “why” was for my family. I wanted to achieve my aims and have a work life balance in the long term. However, I realised, that with all the will in the world, balance may not be so easy in the first instance, and the scales would tip more in one way than the other.

For me, it was so important to talk openly with my family. We talked about choice and although I had a choice, I was so passionate about showing my family that if you have a vision, you need to work hard to achieve it. In many ways, there was no doubt in my mind, as I am fortunate to have an incredible wife and children. Although going back 12 years, my children were younger so perhaps it was more difficult to fully understand the bigger picture.

I did set out with the full support I knew I could count on; however, it would be untrue to say that the next 2-3 years did not bring tough times. I was involved in setting up a manufacturing process in China, which meant considerable amounts of time away from home and considerable distractions when I was at home. But throughout, my family were a listening ear over dinner - if I made it home for dinner! They were my team who picked up extra slack when needed, my reassurance that I was making the right decisions – (or that it was ok if it turned out they were not) and my biggest fans, all rolled into one.

When people ask me about this now, I enjoy being open – yes, I did miss being with my family. Did I need to keep reassuring them and in many cases, reassure myself? Yes, I did.

Looking back now, it was keeping that communication alive that got us through, and I know with truly little doubt that scaling a business in the way we did was a huge undertaking but was made successful with the phenomenal support from my amazing family.

Darren goes to Düsseldorf!

Guten Tag and welcome to this latest blog all about our recent trip to Germany where Darren, our sales manager, visited Medica, the Leading International Trade Fair & World Forum for Medical Technology. It attracts thousands of visitors from over fifty countries.

With the event now all wrapped up, we wanted to reflect on what was a stunning few days full of the latest innovations, important insights, exciting talks, and the opportunity to make new contacts in the medical world.

In terms of our business, we are just so proud to work within the medical sector and support manufacturers with components for a range of products all designed to help patients and improve care/rehabilitation.

When it comes to Darren, well, as you may know, one of his passions is his love for travel and discovering new places so it seemed only right that if anyone was going to get on a scooter and see the sights of Düsseldorf, it had to be him! Don’t worry, we did let him take the plane to Germany first and then he could opt for the scooter. Yorkshire to Düsseldorf on a scooter would have been interesting!

Anyway, back to the event, it took place on 13^th-16^th November in Düsseldorf and was an opportunity for the world’s best to come together and share insights and innovations all designed to improve patient care.

Upon arriving, Darren soon got his bearings and enjoyed exploring the city – whilst he started on foot from the hotel to the event, he soon opted for the other modes of transport!

As Darren entered the exhibition hall (this bit was on foot!), he was blown away by the scale of the event. Spanning sixteen exhibition halls, this medical tech expo showcased a breadth of solutions including handheld surgical devices, revolutionary beds for improved patient comfort and maneuvering, patient lifts, lighting solutions for operating theatres and products to aid patient rehabilitation. There were also companies displaying solutions for products used in autopsies and new concepts for the latest medical imaging solutions. When we asked Darren about the range of solutions being exhibited, he said it was just so vast that it was a job in itself to track it all yet, also was so inspiring to see the levels of future potential. If we think how far we have come in the medical world, its so fantastic to think that the world continues to work so hard to keep pioneering even more technologies – its an exciting sector to be a part of.

The main product categories in the exhibition halls were imaging/ diagnostics and medical technology, laboratory equipment, diagnostic tests, physiotherapy / orthopedic technology, disposables and consumables, IT systems and solutions, medical services and publications.

Just to add a bit of context to this, Medica is the world’s largest event for the medical sector and has been running for over 40 years. If we think about the scale of developments in the medical world over the last 40 years, we can start to see just how vital this event is in the calendar of medical experts and those in the sector seeking continued improvement in patient care.

Whilst at the event Darren got to see just some of the conferences that have become an integral part of the trade fair. There were various forums and shows focusing on varied medical-technological topics. Another highlight is the Medica Start-up Park where innovative young companies present the trends in the medical technology of the future.

We want to express our thanks to the organisers for a wonderful event. It really was out of this world!

We left the event with so many exciting opportunities and having walked miles, Darren also left with the need for some good old-fashioned plasters! (take your walking boots next time Darren!)

Enjoying the “expo” factor!

What an amazing time our team had recently at the Manufacturing and Engineering Expo in Birmingham at the NEC on 8^th and 9^th June.

We had no hesitation in booking a stand at this event as we saw such a brilliant opportunity to meet up with other manufacturers, engineering companies, those involved in supply chain as well as hearing from leading industry experts who were giving talks around best practice and the future landscape of manufacturing.

Spanning four days, this groundbreaking event included four live events: Manufacturing Expo, Engineering Expo, Maintec and Design Engineering Expo.

By collaborating with key stake holders in government, trade bodies and leaders in industry, this event was a real celebration of the best in UK manufacturing, engineering excellence and innovation. The entire event pulled together all aspects of manufacturing and engineering and delivered the widest level of content, best practice and business engagement for the UK’s industrial sector.

Being able to meet such a range of contacts and share knowledge as well make new contacts was so enjoyable and given how the last two years have impacted on us all – there was an extra buzz around the event as you could sense the positive vibes in the room as people came together with a common goal.

As you can imagine, given this was a chance for the Global team to get out there, we had to put a bit of a spin on things, so, we took along with us to stand 52 – the “huzzle challenge”!

Perhaps our team are just that extra bit obsessed with loving to figure out just how things work! So, we had three puzzles, sorry, “huzzles,” that could give our stand visitors a chance to test their ingenuity, problem solving skills and most definitel, patience! One was in the shape of a figure 8, one was a set of connected coils and the last one was two keys connected – the idea was to try to separate them and then reassemble. If we are being totally honest, this gave not only our stand visitors a real test of their abilities, but our team were also given a run for their money, and we won’t say who in our team did it the best!

Anyway, apart from doing the “huzzle” our team had a fantastic two days interacting with loads of businesses and hearing about a diverse range of future projects. It was inspiring to see people with product ambitions and especially on the back of a difficult two years – it gives such an encouraging feeling for the future of the economy.

Overall, it was two days of talent – being surrounded by the best talent in the sector and a test to see who was most talented at solving our “huzzles”

Now our team are back at Global HQ for a thorough event de-brief and a chance to draw the winner of our Huzzle Challenge – look out for our next blog which will feature news of who won a fabulous and totally Yorkshire Food Hamper.

Back on the road with Made in Yorkshire!

There are many things we are passionate about here at Global Precision but up there at the top of the list must be our immense pride to be based in Yorkshire. It is indeed a fabulous place to live and work. Our own location is amazing and we enjoy being able to watch the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway steam past us on many occasions.

So, on the theme of transport, imagine how excited we were at the thought of being back on the road with Made in Yorkshire. With a series of expos running in Leeds, Derby, and Wolverhampton, as part of their Backing Britain 3.0 campaign, it was a perfect opportunity to get motoring and meet up with lots of other manufacturers and those involved in the supply chain.

For us, so many exciting things start with a conversation.

Darren Webb, our sales manager doesn’t need much of an excuse to get out there and enjoy a drive around the region. Being an active cyclist and hiker, he loves nothing more than a chance to embrace the landscapes of the North – however, on this occasion it was definitely best done by car!

Darren attended the events in Leeds and Derby and enjoyed not only meeting great contacts but also the range of presentations delivered. There was a focus on current manufacturing challenges facing businesses operating in a range of sectors. Another speaker gave a very interesting presentation on the future of manufacturing for electric vehicles. This is an area quite close to our hearts as we work with several global car manufacturers so its always good to get fresh updates on where the industry is heading.

Another topic covered was eye opening, as a representative from IBM talked about the amount of wastage we have, whether in our homes or at business premises. The focus was all about the costs involved of dealing with wastage and how that continues to impact our carbon footprint. He shared news with the audience about a potential labelling system that IBM are working on that will educate us all on product shelf life and reduced wastage.

Another presentation was from the first British, female fighter jet pilot. Her story was fascinating and just further highlights the need for more women in STEM. She made ground-breaking achievements and continues to inspire our future generations.

The networking was made even more interesting by the fact that you could offer your contacts a tour of your virtual stand rather than physically set up a complete exhibition stand. This formula worked really well, and also included a remote, digital tour of our manufacturing facility.
